What I love about Kennedy's workouts during the summer of 1996 is the simplicity of them. Nothing fancy. Nothing wild. Nothing complex. Merely straightforward, honest work at world-class speeds.
This was his first workout after 12:58.75 for the then-American record in Stockholm on July 8th. The 1K reps were slightly faster than the tempo he ran for the AR 5,000m, but not much. I can't imagine this was a barn burner session for Kenndy. Simply another drop in the bucket on his way to the Atlanta Olympic Games later that summer.
