Context & Details

If you're a track nerd like me, I hope you are appreciating what has become "Kennedy Week" for the High Performance West Workout of the Day series.

This was Kennedy's 3rd-to-final workout for the 1996 Olympic Games 5,000m prelims. He had just set the American record of 12:58 in the 5,000m a few weeks prior.

In a dark era of American distance running in the 1990s, Kennedy was bright light. This is a classic workout for many middle distance / distance runners and his recorded marks, like the man, are truly world class.
