Brenda Martinez — June 25th, 2016


Context & Details 

Brenda performed this workout 6 days before her prelim of the 800m at the 2016 Olympic Trials. 

She famously didn't make that 800m Olympic team due to an epic fall in the final 100m, but rallied days later to make the team in the 1500m. 

Many point to her contemporaries as more impactful middle distance runners of her generation, but I dispute that claim.

I think Brenda is the most influential runner of her era.

American women's middle distance running wouldn't be where it is today without Brenda's presence, efforts, and intensity. 

It is a privilege to know her and a treat to watch her compete, as she always brings the fire — always.
