This was Nick's final workout going into the 2012 US Olympic Trials. He ran did it on a Tuesday with the first round of the 800m competition on a Friday and the final on Monday.
Here are Symmonds' comments:
A relatively easy workout to prep me for the Trials.
He wasn't kidding. These paces were pedestrian for him. I'll conjecture and suppose that the 600m were at some type of aerobic tempo pace, the 400m reps at an in-between mile to 3K pace and the 300m at a feel-good sprint effort. Given Nick's form at the time, this falls into the "Look Good, Feel Good" workout category. And indeed he must have, as on Monday, June 25th, Nick won the 2012 US Olympic Trials in 1:43.92 in decisive fashion.
