Link of the Day: Daniel Komen's 7:20 for 3,000m World Record Run — Video
This is perhaps the most outstanding distance running track world record in the past 30 years. Although the video quality is grainy, it’s still a thing of beauty to watch.
The announcers in this video are in a state of shock most of the time. They discredit Komen's record attempt in the early laps, laughing at the pace. Good thing Komen couldn’t hear the peanut gallery that day, as he ended up with one of the toughest world records on the books and the last laugh for almost 25 years.
