It is easy to fall into the trap of reminiscing of glory days past. However fond the memories, ultimately they are a barrier towards today's performance. What was will never again be.

Instead, invoke the wisdom of five time World Cross Country Champion & 1988 5,000m Olympic Gold Medalist John Ngugi: "Don't waste good time."

Your best days are still ahead of you. If you take this promise to be true, then today could be your best yet.

Your next run? Maybe your best ever.

Your upcoming race? Possibly your best of all-time.

This shift in mindset can then influence your behavior. Which in turn changes you for the better.

When your best is right around the corner, you'll run without restraint to the unknown. You'll make the most of your time, there will be no wasting it.

And what about that big looming workout you've been quietly dreading? Time to get excited and not waste a shot at delivering your best.
