High Performance West is an online learning community for coaches and athletes of all levels owned and operated by Steve Magness and Jonathan Marcus.

We are a running-focused learning community, concentrating on helping coaches and athletes better prepare for running events from 800m — Marathon.

High Performance West exists to provide coaches and athletes with a go-to place for upgrading their knowledge, silks and ability with up-to-date best practices related to all aspects related to preparation, training and performance for runners.

Steve and Jon are trusted sources of information who have skin-in-the-game. Steve has authored of 3 books on running and performance related topics. Jon founded and directed some of the top middle-distance focused meets in America. They co-founded the On Coaching Podcast in 2015, which has over 100 episodes and over 50,000 listeners worldwide.

Both are active coaches (each with almost 15 years of experience) and have worked with the entire spectrum of runners from middle school age to masters, from Olympians and Professionals to Junior Varsity and Recreational.
