Link of the Day: Pavel Tsatsouline on the Joe Rogan Experience

You may not know of Pavel Tsatsouline. But you should, he knows his stuff. And I think he does a good job of simplifying complex topics on training theory and weight lifting.

Whether or not you’re a fan of Joe Rogan shouldn’t matter. Sometimes he gets amazing domain experts on his program, sits back, and lets them talk — like in this episode.

Pavel covers a lot of ground and gets right to it. His comparison and contrast of different periodization schemes: linear, step/constant, wave/cycle, and variable is phenomenal. I’m biased, I think a step/constant and variable periodization scheme is optimal, but what Pavel offers in this interview is straightforward talk on what we know works in training, why or why not we know it works, and what that means for the coach and athlete who wants to improve their programming.
