Book of the Day: Athletics — How to Become a Champion

Title: Athletics — How to Become a Champion

Author: Percy Cerutty

From the book: “It is for the way pointer, the coach, to indicate the road. Every athlete must do his own condition and training: welcome and accept their own suffering and pain. There is no other way. The serious athlete does well to remember there is no haste on the creative plane, that nature cannot be hurried, that the greater the eventual accomplishment, the longer the time, the more strenuous the effort.”

Takeaway: Cerutty wrote a classic text that coaches of any sport should pick up. It’s not about the workout details, but instead about what coaching means and how to develop individuals as people. This book is so good Steve Magness and I dedicated an entire On Coaching Podcast episode to it.
