Book of the Day: Running with the Buffaloes

Title: Running with the Buffaloes

Author: Chris Lear

From the book: “In many ways, a race is analogous to life itself. Once it is over, it can not be re-created. All that is left are impressions in the heart, and in the mind.”

Takeaway: This is one of Danny Mackey’s favorite books. It’s a cult classic among high school and college runners of the 1990s and 2000s. Lear captures the heart and soul of what the miles of trials or trial of miles means for the American college runner. If you have a copy, now’s a good time to reread it. If you don’t have it, get it. You’ll be inspired to train like an animal when you’re done reading it.
