Create Your Own Merit
You have been given your own work to do. Get to it right now, do your best at it, and don't be concerned with who is watching.
Never depend on the admiration of others. There is no strength in it. Personal merit cannot be derived from an external source.
Stick with your purpose. Make the most of what you've got, what is actually yours. Keep your attention focused entirely on what is truly your own concern and be clear that what belongs to others is their business and none of yours.
Every difficulty in life presents us with an opportunity to turn inward and invoke our own inner resources. The trials we endure can and should introduce us to our strengths.
What matters most is the sort of person you are becoming, what sort of life you are living.
First, say to yourself what you would be; then do what you have to do.
